Integrated Water Management of
Transboundary Catchments
ProDec
It is known
from human experience that proper actions taken in the
emergency situation (e.g. flood wave or dangerous
pollution) may save human lives and
property.
ProDec system helps to define decision
rules to be used for selecting proper action when a
definite threat takes place. The novelty in the ProDec
system is constituted by the use of fuzzy logic to
define the decision rules. With this approach decision
rules can be formulated in semi-natural language
form.
The ProDec
system is composed of two parts:
In the first
part the set of decision rules is prepared. On the basis
of the measured or forecasted values of indicators,
like, e.g. water level or forecasted precipitation, the
rules determine whether emergency situation would arise.
This part is not available through internet.
The second
part functions on the basis of the set of decision rules
prepared with the use of the ProDec's first part.
Knowing the current values of the indicators used to
determine the degree of emergency, we apply these the
decision rules, and obtain the set of suggested actions,
to be undertaken (or considered) in a given
situation.

suggested actions are changing depending on in values
of some
indicators.
